Our Team

Sinclair School of Highland Dancing consists of a team of competent, committed and experienced teachers, committed to delivering dance development in all dancers.

Miss Carolanne

Principal & Highland Teacher

BA (Hons), CA & Member of the BATD Highland & Scottish National Branches

 

Carolanne’s passion for dance began at a young age, and she always knew it would play a central role in her life. Her love for Highland dancing, in particular, inspired her to pursue a career in teaching, and after qualifying in 2002, she spent several years gaining valuable experience teaching at local dance schools.

 

In 2007, Carolanne founded the Sinclair School of Highland Dancing. As Founder and Principal, she sets the school’s vision, oversees classes, supports students, and ensures a positive, inclusive environment where every dancer can thrive.

 

Carolanne is dedicated to delivering classes that are both fun and challenging, catering to dancers of all ages and abilities. She is passionate about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to progress, develop their own strengths, and truly shine in class.

Miss Karen 

Assistant Principal & Highland Teacher 

HND Dance and Associate of the BATD Highland

 

Miss Karen has been dancing all her life and joined SSHD in 2015 bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the school. Having competitvely danced since a young age, she followed her dancing dream and went on to graduate Telford College in 2010 with a HND in Dance Artistry.

 

Karen's dancing career highlights include winning group choreography at Oban in 2007, dancing at the World Championships, performing as a resident dancer with Jamie's Scottish Evening in Edinburgh as well as performing with 'Scottish Music Parade' selling out to packed audiences all around Germany just to name a few!

 

Karen is dedicated to delivering our competitive training schedule and development, she also leads our performance group at local events after a successful career in performing.

Miss Wendy

Highland Teacher

BEd (Hons) Physical Education and Member of the BATD Highland

 

Miss Wendy joined the school in 2013 following a break to raise her family. Having taught PE and Highland dancing to 100's of pupils over the years, Wendy brings a wealth of expeience to the school both in class delivery, dancer development and Highland knowledge. Thoughout her dancing career, Wendy competed at Championship level for a number of years through out Scotland and Internationally. Her competitve highlight was, at the age of 15, placing 4th in the World Championships, at Cowal, Dunoon. She is highly commited to her classes, and loves to see her pupils develop in their dancing both recreationally and competitively.

Miss Amy

Highland Teacher

Associate of the BATD Highland

 

Miss Amy qualified as a Highland Teacher with Sinclair School of Highland Dancing in Janurary 2016 with Highly Commended pass mark after many years as a pupil of the school and assistant to Carolanne's classes. Having been dancing a variety of styles since a young age, Amy's love for Highland saw her develop her teaching career in the discipline which she continues to dance in.

 

Amy is delighted to be teaching some of our classes and her enthusiasm for fun in her classes shines through. Amy also runs our 'community classes' where we offer taster classes of Highland Dancing to local schools, rainbow groups etc.

Miss Louise

Highland Teacher 

Associate of the BATD Highland

 

Miss Louise's love of dancing began at the age of 3 when she took up both ballet and jazz. Her attention soon turned to highland as she began attending Carolanne's classes which she still continues to dance in. Louise has also acted as a class assistant in Karen and Amy's classes for many years which inspired her to pursue her teachers qualification. Louise passed her teachers exam in 2018 and has been teaching since 2020.

 

Miss Louise loves teaching some of our younger classes and always brings fun and encouragement to her classes - helping her students passion for highland grow. 

Miss Abi

Highland Teacher 

Associate of the BATD Highland

 

Miss Abi has newly qualified as a highland dance teacher in 2024 following a love for highland since 3 years old! Abi's dancing career includes performing at the iconic London Palladium and opening the Scotland vs. France rugby matches at BT Murrayfield in 2020 and 2022 with Flings & Things, where she showcased highland dance to thousands. Joining SSHD in 2021, Abi's enthusiasm for teaching led her to study the intricate theory of highland dance, culminating in her qualification.

 

After shadowing Miss Carolanne's coaching classes for a year, Miss Abi now teaches her own classes at St Devenicks Church and bring her passion, skill, and energy to every class, inspiring dancers of all ages to improve, have fun, and shine in Highland dancing.

And not to forget about our wonderful advanced dancers who assist in weekly classes: Miss Ava, Miss Annie, Miss Caitlin, Miss Emily, Miss Emily, Miss Fiona, Miss Grace, Miss Lauren, Miss Lucy and Miss Yvie.
