One More Step - Show 2024
In June 2024, 156 of our wonderful pupils took to the stage at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, ISA and delivered three sell out performances to family and friends. It was a wonderful week filled with fun, smiles and the creation of cherished memories and we are so proud of team SSHD for all their hard work! We also raised £5,000 for Archie Foundation and Friends of Anchor - amazing!
The Umbrella Project – June 2022
Some of our dancers had the fantastic opportunity to perform under multi-coloured umbrellas suspended above the streets of Aberdeen over the weekend. The Umbrella Project helps to raise awareness of neurodiversity and celebrate those who have been diagnosed with conditions such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia. The girls did an amazing job performing in front of the crowds and dancing alongside a pipe band, helping to raise awareness of the project.
Summer Things and Highland Flings – June 2022
We were overjoyed to be back on the stage and perform our first show post COVID at the International School. Summer Things and Highland Flings, our sixth production, was a massive success in demonstrating the talent of all our students. Our dancers performed a variety of traditional and choreographed pieces, transporting the audience around the main sites and cities within Scotland. It was wonderful to watch the smiles on all our dancers’ faces and we couldn’t be more proud of everyone that took part. With all the support from friends and family, we were also able to raise over £5000 for AberNecessities!
Queens Platinum Jubilee – June 2022
Some of our PreSenior and Seniors had the amazing opportunity to dance at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee garden party outside Craigiebuckler Church. It was lovely to watch our dancers perform in front of a large crowd having not had the opportunity during COVID. They all danced amazingly, and the crowd loved it. Well done girls!
Online Classes
When our face to face teaching had to be suspended in March due to covid 19, our teachers and students continued to work hard through a series of online classes to all in the form of weekly Zoom calls and pre recorded videos on google classroom for our younger classes. All the teachers are immensely proud of the dancers who have continued their classes throughout this difficult time. It was especially nice to see the beginners to intermediates all dressed up for our superhero live classes on the final week.
We even created our own lockdown video celebrating all dancers where students of all ages could send in a clip of themselves dancing and we edited all together as a keepsake of this strange time. We are so proud of the final result as it shows how hard everyone has been working at home.

Our first major production was held in March 2015 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, International School of Aberdeen and was a huge sucscess. Over 100 dancers took part in two performances, dancing an exciting mixture of traditional and contemporary Highland pieces. Local Charities, Friend of Anchor and Be-friend a Child joined our Saturday evening performance to collect our donations of £1,200 each from show proceeds. Well done to everyone involved, dancers and volunteers! x
